Something Beautiful
Created Just for You
Your Story in Art
“Butterflies make me think of my grandmother. She loved watching them in her garden.”
“The lotus flower connects me to my yoga practice.”
“Dragonflies always appear at significant times in my life.”
While reflecting on how to offer commissioned art that connects the spirit of my work with your personal story, I thought about comments collectors have made about my work. When someone deeply connects with a work it’s often because the imagery has personal meaning for them. With this in mind, I’ve decided to offer commissioned works of art created around a symbol of something you cherish.
How to Commission Your Keepsake Work of Art
Send an email to shan@shanbryan-hanson.com and let me know you are interested in commissioning a work of art. I’ll send a follow up email request for further information, including the size of the piece you would like me to make and your phone number.
We’ll schedule a phone call at which time we can discuss the color scheme of the piece, the flora or fauna you’d like featured in your art (for instance, a specific type of bird), and anything else you’d like me to know. For instance, is there a piece of jewelry or another treasured item you’d like me to design a pattern around?
Once we’ve finalized the details, you’ll receive an agreement form to read and sign, and an invoice for 50% of the price. The remaining 50% will be billed when the work is completed.
Important notes:
Please allow up to ten weeks for the artwork to be completed from date of agreement.
If I’m currently booked your request will be added to a waitlist.
Unless otherwise agreed upon, the piece will be made with my usual mixed media process that integrates painting, drawing, and embroidery.
If you’d like me to frame the work, I’ll follow up regarding the details.

Example of art framed with a window mat, idea for smaller pieces.

Two works that are mounted to "float" in the frame. These frames have spacer bars around the edges to create distance between the art and the glazing.

Window mat and frame

I usually use white frames but can recommend other colors that would work with your piece.

Dreaming, the large work of art in the foreground, is framed "float" style, idea for larger pieces. The pieces on the gallery-style wall are framed with window mats.
